What’s For Dinner? Seitan and Asparagus


I don’t cook with seitan very often, mostly because I usually can’t find it at stores near me. I have attempted to make my own seitan but I haven’t found a recipe that works yet. It always seems to come out like a big mushy sponge. I love eating seitan in restaurants, and I wish I knew more about how to cook with it because it is really tasty when done properly.

I found some pre-made seitan at a store near my mom’s house, and got really excited to finally have found it. There were 3 chunks of seitan in the package and they sort of looked like small steaks, so I put a bit of BBQ sauce on them and barbecued them. I also steamed some asparagus and sautéed some onions and mushrooms to go with it.

The seitan was very salty, so I didn’t really like it all that much. I guess I’m just going to have to figure out how to make it myself 🙂 If anyone has a recipe for seitan that is fool proof, please let me know.
