Most people get their daily proteins from different meats and animal products. But how do you get your protein when you can’t eat chicken or eggs? This is a question many vegans ask themselves, and surprisingly, the answer is simple! Many of the foods vegans include in their diets contain plenty of protein. By planning your meals carefully, you can easily get the protein you need to stay healthy.

Green Veggies

We all know how important vegetables are in a vegan’s diet! This is definitely a good thing since green veggies are excellent sources of protein. A cup of cooked spinach contains a whopping 5 grams of protein. Other vegetables that can help you get the protein you need include broccoli, peas, kale, and more!

Tofu

Tofu is a classic go to substitute for vegans. This versatile ingredient can be used as a substitute for meat, eggs, and much more! What you might not know about tofu is it’s actually a great source of protein as well. Adding a little bit of tofu to any of your meals can help you maintain a well-balanced diet despite the fact that you’ve cut meats out of your food regime.

Quinoa

Quinoa is another great source of protein. This is good news since quinoa can be used to cook a variety of meals! Any time you have a sweet tooth, try baking up some muffins or cookies with quinoa as a main ingredient. Not only is this treat pretty tasty, it will also have the protein and other nutrients you need to stay healthy.

Soy or Almond Products

Soy and almond products are perfect for adding a little protein to your diet. This includes both soy and almond milk, as well as almond butter and soy yogurt! Since many vegan recipes use these milk alternatives, you can easily squeeze in your daily amount of protein.

Beans & Lentils

Beans and lentils have a lot of protein in them! You can take advantage of this fact by preparing a tasty side dish or by featuring one of these ingredients in your main meal. Get creative with your recipes, using lentils to make homemade vegan burgers or mixing beans with rice for a delicious meal rich in protein.

Getting your daily servings of protein isn’t as hard as you might think. Many of the foods you already eat are great sources for protein.
